“Can my carpet be saved?” Is the most common question I am asked. The answer in most cases is a resounding “YES!”
For over 10 years now that is exactly what The Carpet Medic has been doing. In fact the top 3 services we provide are Carpet Patching, Carpet stretching and Carpet Cleaning. Saving our clients hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars.
Carpet tears, rips, iron burns, cigarette burns, bleach spots are all repairs that require patching. By far the most common are pet damage, Clawing, scratching, licking ripping tearing and sometimes completely mangling carpet, they certainly keep us busy. Whatever the case it almost always can be patched. We start by finding out if the client has any left over carpet. If they do, than we can use that piece to patch in the damaged spot. Often times either they do not or the left over carpet has been stored in the attic and has become heat faded. In those circumstances we will almost always pull from a closet that has the same carpet in it. We do not leave the closet bare, we either replace with a remnant we have on hand or one the client provides for us.
Maybe you have seen carpet that clients have described to us in the following ways “carpet has rolls, waves, has buckles, lumpy, lumped up, has wrinkles, looks bubbly or has speed bumps in it”. This is most often caused due to improper tools at installation like a knee kicker or not using proper tack strip for the type of flooring. A knee kicker is a great assist tool but not intended for a full stretch. To correct the problem we use a power stretcher and reinforce tack strip as needed. In most cases you should not need stretching again. People usually think that they have to get new carpet if their carpet develops these wrinkles, so here is where we get to become real heroes.
